The UK is home to 24 species of bumblebee, around 245 species of solitary bee and one species of honeybee, all of which are vital to us and the natural world. Their distinctive buzzing sound comes from the rapid beating of their wings, a sure sign they are hard at work pollinating flowers and crops.
